Amanda Shipley, PT, DPT, MTC
Dr. Shipley’s mission is to change the standard of care so that pelvic physical therapy is a part of a complete wellness strategy that incorporates preventative care, like going to the dentist. She believes in a holistic approach and focuses on treating you as a whole person and not just your symptoms. Besides extensive manual therapy techniques and individualized exercise prescription, she fosters wellness by encouraging good nutrition, stress management, and patient education as an integral part of empowering all of her patients.
Dr. Shipley is passionate about preventing pelvic floor issues and supporting her patients through the life transitions that we know affect the pelvic floor so strongly - pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause/menopause, and before/after surgery. After having two unmedicated homebirths, she is especially passionate about helping birthing people have as smooth a childbirth as possible. Founder of Renew Pelvic Health, Dr. Amanda Shipley has been a physical therapist for 20 years. Her first five years were in outpatient orthopaedics exclusively and then she transitioned into pelvic health and has been focusing on pelvic floor health and rehabilitation for the last 18 years. She opened her own practice to help people not only address pelvic floor dysfunction but also to prevent it.
Dr. Shipley has presented and educated groups on pelvic health, pelvic floor physical therapy, and healthy living at various local events, companies, and online.
Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Shipley lives in Atlanta and enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, playing soccer, reading, and traveling when possible. Passionate about education and prevention, she is the creator and host of the podcast Kumbay’all: The Whole Woman’s Resource and also created a an online program for holistic homebirth prep called Progressive Pregnancy.
Dr. Shipley sees patients of all genders over 18 yrs old in office and virtually.
